Rey's Goalkeeping Academy (RGA)
The sessions are split in order to make time and space for different groups of students. These groups will be organized according to the level of experience and age of the goalkeeper trainee. These levels are: 1-Beginner, 2-Intermediate, and 3-Advanced. If the student is new to goalkeeper training with the coach Reinaldo Marquez, he will evaluate this student during an Intermediate training session to assess which group is more appropriate for the student. The nature of the groups has also been selected to optimally benefit the needs of the students:
- Level 1 goalkeeper will receive the basic technical training for their position. Students will learn and practice the basic techniques required for diving, jumping, throwing, passing and travelling around the area.
-Level 2 goalkeepers will expand on the basic skills previously learned and gain knowledge in tactical concepts. Students will train in a situational environment style of training, which requires the goalkeeper to utilize his skills and learn how to act optimally according to the given type of play. Communicational and Distribution skills will also be taught in a situational style of training.
-Level 3 goalkeepers will improve their techniques and knowledge by training in challenging sessions that will incorporate physical, technical and tactical skills simultaneously. The student goalkeeper will be placed in advanced situational training that will incorporate more obstacles and variability in order to maximally challenge and improve the goalkeeper’s reaction in different situations.
Depending on the experience gained during training sessions and the specific needs of the goalkeepers, students may be invited to train at a higher group in order to improve and maximize their experience during summer training.
Goalkeeper training can be physically and mentally challenging for athletes of any level and proper nutrition is required in order to perform and recover optimally. It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that students bring a large water bottle to training. Summer heat WILL dehydrate and therefore damage the performance of the athletes. It is also recommended to have a light, yet nutritious breakfast with AT LEAST 1 hour of digestion before training and to practice a balanced and healthy nutritional protocol during the rest of the day as well.
In case of extreme weather, students will be taught tactical and technical concepts in a paperboard in a safe indoor location near the training facility.
