Once again, the 2015 Weston Cup & Showcase was the site of yet another strong showing for ENIGMA, as we continue to progress in stronger competitive level of play with each event attended. Reaching our third consecutive showcase final (winning the previous two) in this young season, our boys played a superb event, which prepares us for the upcoming series of nationally renowned premier elite level events.

Opening with consecutive victories against state and nationally ranked opponents, ENIGMA exhibited great poise and determination in completing and winning Group Play with three wins without losses – 2::0 v. Miramar United FC Elite Red, 2::0 v. West Florida Flames 96 Boys Elite and 4::0 v. Wellington Wave SC Blue. A tough semi-final match ensued – a fourth match in less than 36 hours (unfair scheduling error) against Wellington Wave SC White, but ENIGMA proved resilient and still came out on top with a convincing, but close 3::2 victory to reach our third consecutive tournament championship final.

Playing a fifth match in barely more than two days, the championship match v. a very gritty, physical and aggressive Chivas Florida Futbol Academy garnered much attention, with many college and US Soccer scouts and coaches in attendance in order to evaluate many of our prominent players. Played in front of a massive concurrence of spectators, ENIGMA rebounded from an uncharacteristic and purely fatigue-driven error which resulted in a 0::1 deficit in the first half, to tie the match with about ten minutes remaining in regular time and sending the match directly into penalty kicks. Four rounds of kicks, which included acrobatic keeper stops and some near misses, yielded a 3::2 advantage to give our respected opponent the victory and the championship for the event, by a final score of 1::1 (2::3).

Players of the tournament were defensive midfielder / stopper Daniel Atilano and attacking forward Romelaire Ambroise.
