FUTSOC ENIGMA opened its 2015 – 2016 season with a convincing run throughout our performances at the 2015 PLANTATION THANKSGIVING CLASSIC, held at both Central Park and Pine Island Park, in Plantation, Florida.

Opening group play with a convincing 3::1 victory over Miami Lakes, the team followed up with an absolute conquest of historical nemesis Weston FC by the score of 5::0, limiting both teams to a combined 3 shots on goal. Then, having qualified for the next round, ENIGMA brought on four unused, younger players off the 22 man roster, affording most of the starting players a well-deserved rest for the final match. The final score for the last game in group play, ending in a 0::0 tie with a feisty and very determined ALBION SC U18 White squad.

The championship matched pitted our powerful FUTSOC ENIGMA squad, against a strong but limited ALBION SC U19 Red squad, which was thoroughly dominated for a second consecutive year, this time losing by the final score of 5::2. A 4::1 lead held through until the last quarter of the match, when substitutions off our bench, afforded our youngest players to gain much needed game time experience, adding a final score and yielding a meaningless goal on a quick counter, toward the end of the match.

With this initial tune up tournament, ENIGMA prepares for the holiday break, only to return in January to start the full slate of tournament appearances all over the country, starting with the strong 2016 KELME CUP SHOWCASE in January, the highly regarded 2016 Weston Cup and Showcase in February, and followed by the IMG Cup and Showcase in March. At the third week mark, the team flies out to compete in the most prestigious and world renowned XXXVII DALLAS CUP in Dallas, Texas, where ENIGMA will compete with some of the best teams in the world.

The season continues with appearances at the nationally ranked premier elite Potomac Memorial Cup tournament in Maryland, where ENIGMA won the event last season. The plan is to attend SURF CUP and the NYC Worldwide Showcase Tournament over the summer. Additionally, we will participate in the prestigious U.S. Club Soccer Florida State Cup and hopefully, the Regionals to follow!

It is an ambitious undertaking, a top level season for any team, but one for which ENIGMA is prepared to follow in the footsteps of last year’s nationally ranked No. 1 squad, and maybe exceed them! Congratulations and best luck to all!

5::2 (Pele3, Ackermann, Bruno Giacomelli)
