FUTSOC FUTALAN U17/18 WINS WORLD CUP

FUTSOC FUTALAN attended the WORLD CUP 11 v 11 Cup, held at Plantation's pristine Pine Island Park, and in a very methodical way, won the group stage and clinched the Championship match 2::1, against an over-matched Sao Paulo FC squad.

Opening group play with a 1::1 tie with West Pines United, the team reeled off consecutive dominating performances over Lake Worth Academy 4::0 on the strength of goals from a very dynamic and forward penetrating attack and a convincing 2::1 victory over Inter Academy of Florida. Totaling seven points in those three matches, FUTSOC FUTALAN quallified for the Championship match against SPFC Soccer Paradise.

Strong performances were demonstrated by many, however, it is noteworthy to single out the fine play of Team Captain Daniel Atilano whose overall attack and defending abilities were greatly responsible for our great success at the event. Other salient efforts were exhibited by left wingback Myke Zamor, who provided an impenetrable line of defense from the outside back and launched many productive attacks from the defensive third which connected brilliantly with our front line and creative many potential scoring opportunities. Similarly, our counter back on the right side – Raheem Flemming, who also provided strong, secure coverage which thwarted every attack down the flank. Strong overall play, with the premier level players controlling the early portion tempo and a more dynamic mobilization of mid and forward lines, combined with high pressure in the second half, resulted in a pair of spectacular goals (header and mid range shot) by midfielder / converted attack forward Victor Henriquez. Although the score was close, the game was never in danger and the opponent was clearly outclassed, with several posts and crossbar shots and multiple close target shots which skimmed the target net. The final score gave FUTSOC yet another tournament victory for the season!
